We all have habits and routines that make us feel comfortable. These go-to actions make it easier for us to make decisions and move through our days without worrying about every little detail. In a lot of ways, this is great. We brush our teeth, shower, go to work, and hopefully get in some exercise and healthy food.
Unfortunately, these comfortable habits can also get us in a rut. We wake up feeling like today is going to be just like yesterday and just like the day before. It prevents us from thinking creatively and solving complex problems. It can even prevent us from being the healthy, happy people we strive to be. When we do the exact same workout day after day, our bodies adjust and stop giving us the changes we want.
This happens even to the most adventurous of us from time to time. The good news is that we only need to make small changes to get out of our comfort zone and see results. Try at least one new workout and one new recipe each month. Take a walk somewhere you’ve never been before… even if it’s just a random street in your neighborhood. Ask a friend or family member to send you an article that they think is interesting. Reading something we wouldn’t normally read is a fun way to get another perspective or learn about a new topic. The goal is simply to do something new. I challenge you to get out of your comfort zone today! Let me know what you try.
