Over the next few weeks I’ll be doing a Healthy Eating series devoted to busy traveling professionals. This week I’m focusing on eating well when you’re driving down the highway!
You ran out the door at 7am with no breakfast and no snacks. You decide you’re destined for a day of doughnuts and Big Macs. Not so fast! Eating healthy on the road is easier than you think.
Here are some suggestions for the most options along the highway:
- At rest stops and gas stations you can grab a bag of nuts, a piece of fresh fruit, a container of yogurt, and a bottle of water.
- At fast food restaurants you can pick up a salad, a grilled chicken sandwich, and a side of sliced apples.
It’s tempting to down a burger, fries, and a coke while driving, but you’ll feel so much better after eating something healthy. Your body is already not getting any exercise while you’re sitting in the driver’s seat, so at the very least it deserves some high quality fuel. I promise you won’t regret it!
